Data processing

Sorted processes files, extracted text, tags, embeddings, search indexes, activity history, and Ask Sorted conversations locally on your Mac. This information is used to organize your selected library and answer questions about it.

Files and folders

Sorted accesses only folders that you select through the macOS folder picker. Watched folders remain under your control. The app does not upload your source documents to a Sorted server.

Models

Semantic search uses a model stored on your Mac. The optional answer model is downloaded during setup. Model inference runs on your Mac after installation.

What we do not collect

Sorted does not require an account and does not collect your document contents, search queries, Ask Sorted conversations, file names, or library index on a remote service. Sorted does not use advertising identifiers or sell personal information.

Support messages

If you email support, we receive the information you choose to include in that message. Please redact private document contents and sensitive information before sending diagnostics or screenshots.

We may update this policy when Sorted changes. For privacy questions, use the support form.
